  • We are looking for hands-on experience applying data science, machine learning or AI techniques in Defence and Security, the wider public sector, industry or academia.
  • We require practical experience using Python or equivalent tools to analyse data, develop models or build AI-enabled solutions.
  • We expect understanding of common data science and machine learning approaches, such as statistical modelling, supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, transformers, generative AI and agentic AI patterns.
  • We need the ability to assess the suitability, limitations and risks of different AI/ML techniques for real client use cases.
  • We expect experience working across at least part of the data science or machine learning lifecycle, from exploration and prototyping through to evaluation, deployment or operational use.
  • We require strong communication skills, including preparing clear reports and presentations and explaining complex technical issues to diverse audiences.
  • We need the ability to build productive relationships with colleagues, clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • We value evidence of contribution beyond individual delivery, such as mentoring, practice development, proposition development or supporting bids.
  • We are particularly interested in experience with AI/ML techniques applied to text, audio, imagery, video, geospatial, graph or multimodal data.
  • We are particularly interested in experience developing solutions using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn or Hugging Face.
  • We are particularly interested in experience using cloud-based data science and machine learning services across AWS, Azure, GCP or equivalent platforms.
  • We are particularly interested in experience developing high-quality, maintainable code and working with software engineering practices such as version control, testing, code review and CI/CD.
  • We are particularly interested in experience with MLOps or workflow tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Argo or equivalent frameworks.
  • We are particularly interested in experience scaling models or analytical services for enterprise or operational use.
  • We are particularly interested in experience applying statistical methods, model evaluation techniques and uncertainty analysis.
  • We are particularly interested in understanding responsible AI, including fairness, explainability, transparency, robustness, privacy, security and human oversight.
  • We are particularly interested in experience working in secure, sensitive or mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities:
  • We apply data science, machine learning and AI techniques to solve complex client problems.
  • We research, prototype and develop innovative solutions that deliver real-world impact.
  • We work across the lifecycle, from understanding user needs and exploring data through to building, evaluating, scaling and managing AI-enabled services.
  • We help implement new techniques and technologies, including generative AI and agentic AI patterns where appropriate.
  • We produce high-quality technical output, analysis, reports and presentations.
  • We work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, delivery leads, analysts and client stakeholders.
  • We shape new propositions and support the development of future client opportunities.
  • We contribute to team learning, mentoring and practice development.
  • We build a deep understanding of the Defence and Security sector, including the operational, ethical, security and delivery considerations that shape successful AI solutions.
