Requirements:
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills

  • Good extensive knowledge of water and wastewater assets and process
  • Database and spreadsheet expertise with advanced data handling and reporting skills
  • Ability to formulate and present proposals
  • Strong process focus, including knowledge of pollution
  • Ability to work under pressure, within tight deadlines, and prioritise activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Logical, methodical, and able to think around problems
  • Familiar with standard risk and issue identification and management
  • Extensive system awareness and data extraction ability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft suite
  • Willingness to adapt, learn new skills and new ways of doing things, and work independently and in a working group
  • Ability to visit sites as necessary
  • Access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
  • Experience in delivering a reliable and consistent high-quality output within a significant asset-based operation
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice and continuously improving ways of working
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Knowledge of complex IT systems
  • In-depth knowledge of telemetry and mapping/work management systems, including systems integration
Responsibilities:
  • Analyse data and information from a variety of sources to diagnose asset performance issues
  • Schedule remedial work and recommend actions to reduce failures and support our Performance Commitments
  • Monitor the performance of the sewer network and wastewater sites using systems and technology
  • Understand performance patterns, investigate issues, and intervene to prevent failures
  • Drive proactive ways of working supported by new technology to predict, identify, and proactively action issues
  • Reduce first-time and repeat failures
  • Track, monitor, and escalate where appropriate
  • Provide clear understanding of current risk status, including outstanding alerts and incomplete reactive orders
  • Work as part of our Operational Intelligence team and contribute to the Central Control Team

We are a water utility company based in the Yorkshire region of England, providing essential water and wastewater services to over 5.4 million people and visitors across the region. We protect the environment, support communities, and plan for Yorkshires water 24/7, 365 days a year. This is a permanent full-time Operational Intelligence Optimiser role, working 37 hours per week with hybrid working and infrequent weekend cover on a rota basis. The role is currently based in Bradford, with a move planned to Leeds Valley Park in September 2026. We offer a salary from £38,576 to £48,130 per annum depending on experience, plus an annual performance-related bonus, attractive pension scheme, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and two wellness days, and a wide range of additional benefits including health cash plan, critical illness insurance, dental insurance, retail savings, online GP service, cycle to work scheme, and gym membership discounts.
