Network Security Consultant

Salary: £47,000 - 82,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a strong networking background with solid TCP/IP and L2/L3 knowledge.
• We want hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, LAN/WAN environments, routing and switching, VPNs, SD-WAN and wider network security.
• We ideally want experience implementing or upgrading network/security solutions rather than only supporting an existing environment.
• Experience gained in an MSP, ISP, network integrator or consultancy would translate well.
• We need someone comfortable speaking with customers, troubleshooting independently and taking ownership through to resolution.
• A background as a Network Engineer, Network & Security Engineer, Network Security Engineer, Firewall Engineer or 3rd Line Network Engineer would be relevant.
• Professional qualifications or certifications are not essential, but a willingness to continue learning and gain relevant qualifications is important.

Responsibilities:

• We work across a mix of network and security projects, implementations and 3rd line escalations.
• We design and deploy firewalls, and work on VPN and SD-WAN solutions.
• We troubleshoot complex network issues and complete upgrades.
• We help deliver wider customer infrastructure projects.
• We work across LAN/WAN environments alongside enterprise firewalls, routing and switching, VPNs, web filtering, identity and access management and wider network security.
• We gather requirements, produce technical designs and implementation plans.
• We carry out network and security health checks.
• We speak with customers about the solutions we are delivering.
• We support business-critical environments, including an out-of-hours/on-call element.

We are a growing specialist network and connectivity business that designs, builds and supports complex network environments for large organisations across the UK. This Network Security Consultant role is based in Manchester or Lancaster, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home, with occasional travel to customer sites across the UK. We offer a base salary of £45,000 to £60,000, along with 25 days holiday, private healthcare, twice-yearly bonus opportunities and funded professional qualifications.
