Senior Backend Developer

Salary: £52,000 - 52,000 per year

Requirements:

• Expert-level experience with Java and the Spring Framework
• Proven track record in distributed systems and microservices architectures
• Experience integrating AI coding agents into daily development workflows
• Commercially minded and pragmatic, with a focus on effective and cost-efficient solutions
• API-first product mindset focused on customer outcomes and user use cases
• Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and a fast-paced startup environment
• Strong communication skills, able to bridge engineering and non-technical stakeholders
• High integrity, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive interactions diplomatically
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Driven, curious, and eager to learn and share expertise with the team

Responsibilities:

• Architect and oversee highly scalable, secure web applications, services, and APIs, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Champion AI-native development workflows and integrate AI coding agents to improve developer velocity, code quality, and maintainability
• Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to shape the technical roadmap and translate complex requirements into scalable solutions
• Define technical standards and lead robust code review processes
• Collaborate with Support and CSM teams to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve critical customer issues
• Deepen our expertise in Open Banking and PSD2 and help push the boundaries of what can be built with our APIs
