Computer Science Researcher

Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related subject.
• We require experience conducting innovative Computer Science research.
• We require strong Java development skills, along with some Python and Bash.
• We require experience designing experiments and applying the scientific method.
• We require strong research report writing and presentation skills.
• Experience in privacy research, vulnerability research, mobile applications, cellular networks such as 5G, or non-HTTP network protocols would be particularly relevant.
• You must understand security principles around confidentiality, integrity and availability, including areas such as SSO, two-factor authentication, and certificate-based authentication.
• You must be a British national and willing to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) and high security clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We conduct research and design experiments using the scientific method.
• We document findings and present outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We work closely with software engineers to turn research into working prototypes.
• We develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes that can become future operational capabilities.
• We tackle complex computer science challenges within secure environments.
• We contribute to both internal and customer-funded research.
• We combine experimentation, innovation, and practical delivery.
• We are based near Halifax, with occasional travel and overnight stays at customer and partner locations.

We are a software engineering team based near Halifax, West Yorkshire, and this role comes with a full relocation package.
