Senior Platform Engineer

Salary: £90,000 - 120,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with AWS
• A software engineering background, ideally with Go or C#
• Experience designing and operating microservices or distributed applications
• Infrastructure automation experience using tools such as Terraform
• Experience with containers and container orchestration, particularly Docker, ECS or Kubernetes
• Experience building and improving CI/CD environments
• Experience working with a mixture of SQL and NoSQL data stores
• Experience designing systems around asynchronous processing, messaging and event-driven patterns
• Experience with APIs, authentication, caching and serverless technologies
• Understanding of networking and cloud security
• Experience operating systems in production and handling reliability and performance challenges
• Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles
• Ability to break down complex problems and explain your thinking clearly

Responsibilities:

• Build and evolve our AWS platform that supports a growing production environment
• Design infrastructure and services that can scale as customer and data requirements increase
• Improve how engineering teams build, test, release and operate software
• Create automation that removes operational overhead and makes developers more productive
• Establish reusable patterns for infrastructure, deployment and service ownership
• Work across compute, storage, databases, networking, messaging and serverless technologies
• Help design systems that remain reliable as complexity and scale increase
• Investigate challenging production problems and find long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes
• Improve visibility across the platform through monitoring, logging and observability
• Contribute to technical decisions around architecture, resilience, security and performance
• Work closely with application engineers to make development and infrastructure more seamless
• Mentor engineers and help raise the overall technical bar within the team
