Senior Data Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £51,000 - 51,000 per year
Requirements:- Several years of experience as a data engineer with a data-oriented mindset
- Proven experience in development and maintenance of data pipelines, preferably in agile projects (Scrum and/or Kanban)
- Good knowledge of the Lloyds of London market
- Strong level in T-SQL and Azure Data Factory
- Ability to develop data pipelines across various platforms using best practices such as parallelization, distributed programming techniques, dimensional modeling, slowly changing dimensions, and change data capture management
- Good knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Gitflow best practices
- Good knowledge of Power BI, MDX, and DAX
- Good knowledge of Python and PySpark
- Experience with Databricks and/or Palantir Foundry is a strong plus
- Knowledge of REST API development is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking, rigorous mindset, solution-oriented approach, and ability to propose improvements
- Team player with commitment, curiosity, and willingness to challenge ideas
- Ability to navigate in an international environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide community of stakeholders across business, data, and IT
- Bachelors degree in computer science, software or computer engineering, applied maths, physics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Build, deliver, test, maintain data artefacts such as data pipelines, datasets, cubes, models, and services (API) to support data distribution while following standard best practices and state-of-the-art approaches
- Test, reconcile, and document changes as a key part of the role
- Document data artefacts through code, diagrams, and wiki-like documentation to ensure the comprehensiveness of our work
- Collaborate within and outside our squad by participating in workshops and rituals such as daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and design sessions
- Promote good practices across the SCOR group
- Support the delivery of trustworthy data pipelines that serve both transactional and analytical needs
- Implement adequate tests and controls, and monitor scheduled outputs or ad hoc inputs when required
- Review and coach data engineers, and support their growth
- Contribute to the Internal Control System and support audits when required
