Director of Software Architecture
Job Description
Salary: £45,000 - 80,000 per year
Requirements:- We need knowledge of Arm-based computer architecture and the range of SoCs and devices created using Arm hardware IP.
- We need experience in software profiling, instrumentation, and optimization for real-world applications and workloads such as AI stacks, runtime compilers, and multimedia processing.
- We need a strong understanding of complex multi-component computing systems, with demonstrable low-level OS/device driver development or integration experience.
- We need authoritative knowledge of C or C++ development, with proficiency in optimizing applications, workloads, and compilers.
- We need an understanding of how to rigorously test software and design software for testability.
- We need experience across the software lifecycle, including taking complex software from concept to production and maintenance.
- Nice to have: experience with Android, ChromeOS, or Windows software and systems.
- Nice to have: experience with Linux, Linux distributions, cloud/edge applications, and networking software.
- Nice to have: knowledge of artificial intelligence software stacks, algorithms, and tooling.
- Nice to have: knowledge of multimedia system designs involving GPUs, compositing display processors, and image signal processing.
- Nice to have: familiarity with system-on-a-chip architectures.
- We will define software solutions that enable Arm technology and develop strategies to help those solutions be adopted and enabled by users.
- We will help evolve our software strategy across all computing segments, including data centre, automotive, mobile, robotics, networking, home, laptops, TVs, embedded, and IoT.
- We will drive adoption of new features and trends in core processing, accelerators, and system hardware, with a focus on improved security, reliability, and performance.
- We will understand new Arm architecture and IP features, how they are implemented, and what they mean for existing software components and tools.
- We will devise ways to promote their benefits to software ecosystems and resolve issues that arise during adoption.
- We will analyse and deeply understand software solutions currently deployed in products, particularly major open-source projects such as Linux.
- We will deliver software improvements back to the relevant open-source projects as a reference for our customers to build their own systems.
- We will work with our OS, OEM, and silicon partners to drive standards that enable optimisation, differentiation, and rapid evolution within our partner model.
- We will build new software paradigms on our Arm reference hardware designs.
- We will profile system performance and innovate ways to improve it.
- We will lead validation of functionality, security, and safety.
