Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

  • We need demonstrated experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • We need strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
  • We need experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.
  • Preferred: experience building backend libraries and frameworks shared across multiple teams, with deep understanding of Spring Boot internals.
  • Preferred: experience with scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, or Bash, and IaC tools such as Terraform.
  • Preferred: knowledge of observability tools such as OTEL, Grafana, and Dynatrace.
  • Preferred: experience working in financial services, investment platforms, or similar regulated organisations.
  • Preferred: hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Preferred: experience building self-serve tooling for engineering teams.
  • Preferred: demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, sprint planning, and backlog grooming.
Responsibilities:
  • We design, develop, and maintain backend libraries and frameworks using Java and Spring Boot for asynchronous architecture.
  • We build scalable, reliable, and secure components that provide out-of-the-box implementations of non-functional requirements and controls compliance.
  • We collaborate closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs and deliver solutions that improve productivity and engineering experience.
  • We drive initiatives to standardise development workflows, tooling, and processes across Platform and Product squads.
  • We champion engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines across Investments and our broader technology organisation.
  • We provide technical direction, mentorship, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • We tackle complex technical challenges, design innovative strategic solutions, and guide the team.
  • We facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development within the team.
  • We work closely with SDLC and Infrastructure teams to enable delivery of Platform as a Product.
  • We drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
  • We establish measurable validation standards such as secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and promote reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  • We apply knowledge of SDLC toolchain tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
