Modelling Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £42,000 - 72,500 per year
Requirements:- Current SC Clearance is essential
- Proven experience in programming and quantitative modelling
- Strong background in data science, operational analysis, or a closely related discipline
- Experience developing one or more of the following: logistics models, cost models, stock and flow models, or logistical flow / event-based models
- Ability to work independently and make an immediate contribution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Python is useful, but we also welcome strong modelling experience in other languages
- Develop logistics and logistical flow models
- Build cost models
- Develop stock and flow models
- Create event-based / discrete-event logistical models
- Apply quantitative analysis and data science to complex logistics problems
- Translate real-world operational challenges into robust computational models
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate modelling outputs

We are supporting a leading consultancy on a significant defence logistics programme and are looking for experienced Digital Modellers to join the team. This is a sensitive, technically complex project focused on data science, operational analysis, quantitative modelling, logistics and cost modelling. We offer an initial contract running from next week through to December, paid at £550–£600 per day outside IR35. The role is predominantly remote, with some travel to customer sites if required, including possible locations such as Reading, Preston and Warton. We are open to flexibility on location for the right candidate, and we are seeking individuals who can contribute quickly and work with a high degree of autonomy.
