Design System Engineer

Salary: £90,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience building and evolving multi-platform design systems across web, iOS, and Android
• Expert-level experience with React, TypeScript, and modern CSS, with a focus on token architecture and scalable component libraries
• Strong systems thinking, including versioning, governance, and adoption strategies
• Collaborative communication skills and strong design sensibility
• Experience using usage analytics, adoption metrics, and research to guide decisions
• Strong documentation and migration guide writing skills
• Deep commitment to web performance and Core Web Vitals
• Accessibility expertise and a strong commitment to inclusive experiences
• Knowledge and understanding of the travel sector or other direct-to-consumer e-commerce environments, desirable
• Experience building design system foundations for multi-brand or white-label architecture and internationalisation at scale, desirable

Responsibilities:

• Co-lead the evolution and governance of our design system
• Build and maintain a robust React/TypeScript component library
• Establish clear adoption standards across product teams
• Support the operational loop between Figma, code, and multi-brand delivery
• Help define how our design system supports AI-generated frontend code and reduce rework while improving consistency
• Bridge design and engineering by translating design decisions into reusable, production-ready components
• Review design system features before release to ensure high UX and consistency standards
• Make targeted visual and interaction refinements aligned with our design system guidelines
• Partner with engineers to improve developer experience, making the system intuitive, well-documented, and easy to use
• Collaborate with design leadership, product managers, and engineering to ensure the system reflects evolving product priorities
