Specialist Engineer - Routing

Salary: £24,500 - 42,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for extensive operational experience, ideally within complex technology delivery environments.
• We require strong technical knowledge of network transmission systems such as Ericsson OMS and ABB Fox.
• Proven experience using FNT for network routing and inventory management is essential.
• Knowledge of Cramer and SIAT (impact analysis tooling) is highly desirable.
• We need hands-on experience with NMC/NMS environments.
• A solid understanding of SDH/PDH, MPLS, and DWDM technologies is required.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills are essential.
• Candidates must hold, or be eligible to successfully obtain and maintain, UK Security Check (SC) clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We are responsible for routing design, validation, and circuit production for SDH/PDH telecommunication services across major client Optical Transmission Networks.
• We deliver services ranging from 64Kb to 2Mb, including Ethernet over SDH, following detailed routing specifications.
• We provide 2nd and 3rd line network engineering support at customer sites.
• We manage complex technical incidents and maintain clear communication with specialist engineers and client personnel.
• We ensure SLA compliance and follow contract governance processes.
• We prioritise site health, safety, and operational standards.
• We conduct root cause analysis for major incidents.
• We contribute to SLA and performance metrics.
• We participate in a rotational on-call schedule as part of the team.
• We support both business-as-usual operations and project activities, including the Optel Gen3 programme, which may require out-of-hours working.
