Data Platform Lead

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience as a Lead Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer
• Expertise in designing and building data platforms end-to-end
• Deep hands-on experience with cloud-native data infrastructure, ideally on AWS using IaC
• Experience with Lakehouse and modern Data Warehouse patterns, including AWS S3-based Lakehouse patterns, Athena/Redshift, Glue, EMR, and Metabase
• Proven track record of designing and operating data ingestion pipelines at scale (batch and streaming)
• Experience supporting system migrations and dual-running, including reconciliation and trust building
• Strong understanding of data modeling for analytics
• Experience enabling self-service analytics platforms (e.g. Metabase or similar)
• Exposure to AI-adjacent data work, including preparing data for RAG or ML use cases
• Ability to support streaming or near-real-time analytics
• Collaborative and pragmatic mindset, capable of working closely with Product Managers

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and own the new cloud (AWS) hosted data platform from the ground up
• Act as the design authority for data infrastructure
• Collaborate closely with software engineering teams, BI function, and Enterprise Architect
• Enable analytics, insight, AI, and safe system transitions
• Own and evolve data ingestion pipelines, including incremental migration from legacy systems
• Manage dual-running and reconciliation during platform transition
• Establish a hub-and-spoke, single source of truth data architecture
• Support ongoing ingestion from systems of record and partners
• Make pragmatic decisions that deliver value early while supporting long-term scalability
