Software Engineer (C# / C++)

Requirements:

• Proficient in C#
• Experience with C++ is desirable
• Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse
• Ability to work from a high-level system view into technical detail
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience with distributed simulation standards and protocols such as DIS, HLA and DDS is desirable
• Experience with web services development such as JavaScript or Node.js is desirable
• Knowledge of military communications, datalinks and interfaces such as 1553/1760 and Ethernet TCP/IP is desirable
• Practical knowledge of system integration principles and processes is desirable

Responsibilities:

• Support the development of advanced defence systems from initial concept through to in-service support and training
• Develop simulation technologies including digital twins and emulators
• Work with Project Leads and Simulation Architects to design and develop simulation components as an end-to-end representation of a weapon system in a synthetic environment
• Use C#, C++ and integration simulations to support industry standards
• Work as part of a heterogeneous agile development team of mixed-discipline engineers
• Apply configuration control, continuous integration, continuous delivery or deployment, and unit testing with test-driven development

We are a world-class defence organisation recruiting 5 C# / C++ Software Engineer subcontractors on an initial 12-month contract. We offer a hybrid working arrangement of 3 or 4 days per week onsite, with locations in Stevenage or Bristol depending on preference. This is a 37-hour-per-week role with an ongoing and long-term outlook beyond the initial duration. The role is inside IR35 and the overtime rate is calculated at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37 per week.
