Lead Software Engineer - Java - Equities - Vice President
Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year
Requirements:- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 3+ years of applied experience
- Experience with Java/JVM and the Java/JVM ecosystem, including Spring Boot
- Experience with TypeScript/React development
- Demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to validate outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations
- Experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption of AI-assisted tools within delivery practices
- Experience with object-oriented design and microservice architectures and best practices
- Proficiency across all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and clean code practices
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
- Experience partnering with product and engineering teams
- Preferred: experience working on financial systems
- Preferred: experience with finance and derivative products, including knowledge of Convertible Bonds
- Preferred: experience with publish/subscribe messaging protocols such as Kafka, AMQP, or AMPS
- Preferred: experience with C#/WPF desktop application programming
- Preferred: exposure to relational database management systems, including Sybase
- Preferred: experience with cloud technologies
- Preferred: exceptional client relationship skills, including the ability to uncover true requirements and recommend technical approaches
- Execute creative software solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, traders, sales, and Quants to develop best-in-class software solutions for our Equity Derivatives platform
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
- Apply tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve automation value
- Work within an Agile/Scrum team analyzing and implementing business requirements
- Work closely with production management to support business processes, changes, and end users
- Lead and contribute to communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of leading-edge technologies
