IT Support Assistant

Salary: £26,000 - 30,000 per year

Requirements:

• Previous IT support experience or demonstrable equivalent technical knowledge
• A good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, desktop hardware, user accounts, software troubleshooting, basic networking and IT security
• Methodical problem-solving and clear, patient communication with technical and non-technical colleagues
• The ability to organise and prioritise our workload, work independently and follow issues through to completion
• Comfort working in both office and manufacturing environments
• A valid driving licence and access to reliable transport
• Desirable: Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, virtual machines or backup systems
• Desirable: Network switches, routers, firewalls or endpoint security software
• Desirable: Manufacturing or business systems, or supporting users across multiple sites
• Desirable: Asset management, network monitoring, automation, scripting or AI tools

Responsibilities:

• Provide first- and second-line support, managing helpdesk requests through to resolution
• Diagnose Windows desktop, laptop, software and wired or wireless connectivity issues
• Set up equipment for new starters and manage user accounts, permissions, passwords and access
• Support Microsoft 365, phones, printers, scanners, label printers and other business hardware
• Support remote access and the computers, business systems and production technology used across our company
• Install, configure and update software, and maintain accurate asset records and technical documentation
• Monitor systems and assist with server, backup and network administration under our Group IT Managers direction
• Investigate recurring problems, implement lasting fixes and escalate infrastructure issues when appropriate
• Assist with equipment replacements, upgrades, cybersecurity, automation, internal applications and other IT projects
• Liaise with external suppliers and help maintain appropriate security standards

We are EuroTech Group and we are looking for an IT Support Assistant to join our internal IT team and provide day-to-day technical support across our Devon operations. This is a hands-on role in a small team rather than a high-volume call-centre helpdesk, suited to a practical problem-solver who communicates well, takes ownership of issues through to resolution and wants to develop a broad technical skill set. You will work closely with our Group IT Manager, gain experience beyond day-to-day support through wider improvement projects, and receive support for relevant training as your skills grow. We also use AI tools appropriately to investigate problems, automate repetitive work, document systems and develop internal tools. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 4:45 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, with Friday afternoons off.
