Salary: £90,000 - 115,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong experience with iRESS Xplan, including configuration, customisation and integration.
  • Proven leadership experience within software engineering or platform engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of API design and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience delivering solutions within regulated financial services environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud and middleware technologies, including serverless architectures.
  • Experience working with modern SDLC practices and Agile delivery methods.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of data platforms and operational data models.
  • Wealth management, private banking or investment platform experience.
  • Experience integrating Xplan with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and adviser back-office processes.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and influencing product roadmaps.
  • Track record of building internal capability and reducing reliance on external implementation partners.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code.
  • Experience developing AI-enabled or agentic solutions within financial services.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as the senior technical authority for the financial planning domain.
  • Define and maintain engineering standards covering code quality, documentation, testing and release management.
  • Lead architecture and design decisions, ensuring scalability, maintainability and security.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and provide expert guidance across engineering teams.
  • Balance delivery objectives with technical debt management and platform sustainability.
  • Champion modern engineering practices including CI/CD, Git-based development, automated testing and code review.
  • Support Agile delivery through Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
  • Design and oversee integrations using REST APIs, SOAP services and event-driven architectures.
  • Drive adoption of middleware and integration technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of APIs, web applications, serverless solutions and microservices using technologies such as Python or Java.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance and data protection requirements.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, configuration specialists and platform administrators.
  • Help build engineering capability and promote best practice across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, compliance teams, architects and engineering leaders within a build it, run it environment.
  • Lead configuration and customisation of Xplan workflows, forms, templates, campaigns and business processes.
  • Design and maintain integrations between Xplan and connected platforms, including CRM and data solutions.
  • Oversee platform upgrades, releases and vendor-led enhancements.
  • Manage troubleshooting, root cause analysis and platform optimisation activities.
  • Support data migration initiatives including cleansing, mapping and validation exercises.
  • Ensure platform security and permissions are effectively managed in a regulated environment.
