Requirements:
  • Experience leading analytical and intelligence activity within a department
  • Experience undertaking complex analysis using innovative statistical and analytical methods on large and varied datasets
  • Experience producing reports, dashboards and visualisations for different audiences
  • Experience with data tools including Excel and Power BI
  • Potential experience with specialist software such as MapInfo, Stata, SAS Enterprise, or R
  • Experience conducting evaluations, needs assessments, forecasting, and developing performance indicators and outcomes frameworks
  • Experience carrying out data and literature reviews and critically appraising evidence
  • Experience identifying and resolving data quality issues
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive data in line with information governance principles and partnership agreements
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and partners across the organisation
Responsibilities:
  • Lead analytical and intelligence activity within the assigned department
  • Undertake complex analysis using innovative statistical and analytical methods on large and varied datasets
  • Provide robust evidence and insight to inform improvement, evaluate impact, and support statutory, corporate and service-level performance reporting
  • Develop and apply analytical approaches that strengthen the evidence base for service transformation, programme delivery, strategy development, and policy and performance improvement
  • Manage and protect confidential and sensitive data in accordance with information governance principles and partnership agreements
  • Deliver performance and insight products using data tools including Excel and Power BI
  • Apply appropriate techniques for analysis, visualisation and storytelling to translate complex data into accessible and actionable insight
  • Produce, interpret and present high-quality analytical outputs including reports, dashboards and visualisations tailored to different audiences
  • Undertake evaluations, needs assessments, forecasting and the development of performance indicators and outcomes frameworks
  • Conduct data and literature reviews, interpret and critically appraise evidence, and provide clear evidence-based summaries and recommendations
  • Support the development of local indicators and metrics linked to corporate priorities and improvement strategies
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and support improved systems, processes and preventive measures
  • Contribute to regular performance reviews and improvement activity
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and partners across the Council

We are recruiting an experienced Intelligence and Impact Analyst for a contract role in Southwark, with 3 days in the office, including Monday as mandatory and 2 additional days on a rota. This role helps us make better decisions that improve outcomes for residents by turning complex data into clear, actionable intelligence. You will support evidence-based policy, performance management, service improvement, evaluation, and a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement across the council and with partners.
