IBMi / iSeries Engineer

Salary: £130,446 - 130,446 per year

Requirements:

• We require an experienced IBMi Engineer for a 3-6 month contract.
• We require a solid background in IBMi (IBM iSeries) and IBM Power Servers.
• We require experience providing remote customer support and maintenance, as well as design and implementation services.
• We require experience with IBM iSeries and IBM Power Servers.
• We require data centre experience.
• We require experience with network switches, routers, and firewalls.
• We require some Microsoft Azure cloud experience.
• We require some VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation experience.
• Ideally, we require experience with Veeam and/or Commvault.
• Ideally, we require experience with enterprise storage systems such as IBM, PURE, EMC, and/or HP.
• Ideally, we require experience with replication and backup tools such as Commvault, Mimix, Maxava, and/or Q-EDD.

Responsibilities:

• We work across the complete infrastructure, including designing, configuring, monitoring, and automating storage and disaster recovery systems and hardware.
• We provide Backup As A Service, Disaster Recovery As A Service, and Hosting As A Service.
• We provide remote customer support and remote data centre support to enterprise IBMi, Azure, and VMware environments.
• We support an IT Service Desk within a small team of IBM specialists.
• We handle BAU support.
• We carry out scheduled OS upgrades.
• We carry out firmware upgrades.
• We perform DR tests and data restore tests.

We are offering a hybrid 3-6 month contract based in Dorking, Surrey, with several days a week in the office and several days working from home. The role is inside IR35 and pays £400-£500 per day. Our office is in Central Surrey with onsite parking, and we are looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer to join our small team of IBM specialists supporting enterprise IBMi, Azure, and VMware environments.
