Backend Software Engineer Python C# AI

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong backend software engineering skills with Python or C# (or both)
• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as OOP, multithreading, design patterns, and system design
• Understanding of what makes a good frontend and how to ensure connectivity between front-end and back-end systems; React or Angular skills preferred
• Good understanding of cloud-native architectures (Azure / AWS), event-driven systems, microservices, CI/CD, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker
• Keen to use and adopt more AI into processes and the product; experience with Claude or other AI tools preferred
• Collaborative with great communication and problem-solving skills
• Ideally experience in a start-up or small team environment

Responsibilities:

• Work as an individual contributor on backend and cloud-native development
• Help build the technology platform behind a diverse portfolio of insurance products used across international businesses
• Explore how AI can improve engineering productivity and the products themselves
• Use tools such as Claude alongside strong software design principles, patterns, and engineering best practice
• Contribute to greenfield development and influence architecture and engineering practices
• Support how AI is embedded into the software development lifecycle
