Senior Java Engineer (Equinox) – Equity Derivatives Tech VP

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Hands-on professional software development experience at a senior level
• Proven experience defining technical architectures and leading complex projects through to delivery
• Proficiency in object-oriented and functional programming
• Rigorous application of clean code and TDD principles
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead by example
• Proactive approach to identifying productivity issues and implementing solutions
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
• Proficiency in Java
• Expertise in component integration via REST APIs and message queues such as Kafka
• Thorough understanding of multi-threaded programming
• Experience developing concurrent applications with asynchronous task processing based on the actor model and streaming
• Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Couchbase
• Ability to create and maintain project builds and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience building and deploying containerised applications
• Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, software programming, systems engineering, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities:

• Define the technical architecture for Equinox, including data and process flows from upstream and downstream systems
• Liaise with business stakeholders and business analysts to define new projects, ensure completeness of requirements, and agree priorities
• Design new functionality
• Own iterative delivery of new features to the business
• Ensure ongoing system robustness and stability
• Play an active role in the teams response to production issues
• Coach and mentor more junior team members to improve the standard of work
