Senior Java Architect

Salary: £100,000 - 120,000 per year

Requirements:

• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• 8+ years in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Principal Engineering roles.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale Banking and Payment solutions.
• Expert-level knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.
• Deep expertise in Messaging Hub architecture.
• Strong experience with Kafka, NATS, and event streaming platforms.
• Expert understanding of integration patterns, enterprise integration architecture, messaging patterns, API architecture, and event-driven architecture.
• Strong expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with data modelling, performance tuning, HA/DR architecture, and transaction-heavy systems.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and engineering organizations.
• Strong architectural documentation and presentation capabilities.
• Experience leading globally distributed teams.
• Strategic thinker with a hands-on engineering mindset.
• Banking or Financial Services industry background preferred.
• Experience with large-scale modernization and transformation programs preferred.
• TOGAF, Kubernetes, Cloud, or Architecture certifications preferred.
• Experience building AI-enabled engineering organizations preferred.
• Exposure to GenAI and Enterprise LLM integration patterns preferred.

We are hiring a Senior Java Engineering Architect for a contract or permanent role based in London, with four days a week in the office and one day from home. We offer a rate of £120K per annum or £500 per day inside IR35. We are looking for a highly experienced technology leader to help shape next-generation banking and payment platforms, work with globally distributed teams, and contribute to AI-driven engineering innovation.
