Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for someone with typically 8 to 15+ years of experience in IBM mainframe systems programming, with a strong focus on DB2 for z/OS administration and support.
  • We need proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise DB2 environments with multiple DB2 subsystems.
  • We need strong experience in DB2 installation, migration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other mission-critical enterprise environments is preferred.
  • We need hands-on experience supporting high-volume OLTP environments utilizing CICS and DB2.
  • We need strong experience with DB2 for z/OS, z/OS operating system, SMP/E, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDF, and RACF.
  • We need experience installing, upgrading, testing, and supporting DB2 releases.
  • We need experience providing Level 2 and Level 3 support for DB2-based applications.
  • We need a strong understanding of Distributed DB2 Connectivity (DDF).
  • We need expertise in DB2 performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and database security administration.
  • We need strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • We need excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • We need the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities within a production environment.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise environments with 50+ DB2 subsystems is desired.
  • Exposure to Mainframe Sysplex and Data Sharing environments is desired.
  • Experience with OMEGAMON for DB2, DB2 Data Sharing, IBM Utilities for DB2, DB2 Performance Expert, and DB2 Administration Tool is desired.
  • Knowledge of ACF2 security, RACF security administration, CICS integration with DB2, automation and monitoring tools is desired.
  • Experience supporting Banking and Financial Services organizations is desired.
  • Familiarity with regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements is desired.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery solutions and resilience architectures is desired.
  • IBM DB2 for z/OS certifications are preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • We will install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 for z/OS environments.
  • We will support a large-scale enterprise DB2 infrastructure comprising multiple DB2 subsystems.
  • We will plan and execute DB2 version upgrades, migrations, and maintenance implementations.
  • We will provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for applications utilizing DB2.
  • We will ensure the stability, integrity, availability, and performance of DB2 databases and supporting infrastructure.
  • We will support and manage Distributed Data Facility (DDF) and distributed DB2 connectivity.
  • We will maintain and optimize highly responsive OLTP environments utilizing CICS and DB2.
  • We will monitor database performance and implement tuning recommendations to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • We will perform system capacity planning and growth forecasting.
  • We will develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • We will ensure proper storage management, archiving, and retention processes are in place.
  • We will implement and manage database security controls and access governance.
  • We will troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues.
  • We will collaborate with application teams to support database design, deployment, and problem resolution.
  • We will ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • We will maintain technical documentation, operational standards, and support procedures.
  • We will ensure all database and monitoring solutions are maintained on supported versions.
  • We will provide on-call and after-hours support for critical incidents and planned maintenance activities.
  • We will lead technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for major incidents.
  • We will drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
  • We will collaborate effectively with infrastructure, development, security, and operational teams.
  • We will demonstrate ownership, accountability, and proactive support of critical business services.
