Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a software developer and systems designer, from concept through to support.
  • Expertise in multiple complex software languages and toolsets, such as .Net, SQL, and XML.
  • Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle and adherence to industry standards.
  • Practical knowledge of ICT infrastructure, software development methods, and maintenance techniques.
  • A track record of coaching and mentoring developers, with a focus on quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in database software and operational/service architecture knowledge.
  • A full UK driving licence, as travel may be required across various locations.
  • Police vetting clearance, with a requirement to have resided within the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver effective support and maintenance services for locally developed software systems.
  • Recommend industry-standard technical tools and methodologies to improve solution development.
  • Develop, test, and document new software solutions that meet high-quality standards.
  • Review designs, evaluate solutions, and undertake detailed data flows and analysis.
  • Establish and execute plans for unit and system testing, ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Implement products into live operations, adhering to formal change control processes.
  • Collaborate with developers and team leaders to estimate project delivery timescales.
  • Lead and mentor a small group of developers, sharing knowledge and expertise.

We are recruiting a Senior Apps Developer to join Thames Valley Police in Kidlington on a temporary full-time contract, working Monday to Friday for 37 hours per week, with an end date in February 2027.
