Senior Java Engineer

Salary: £120,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:

• At least 7 years of experience as a backend Java developer building complex distributed systems
• Deep understanding of core Java, data structures, and concurrency, not just framework knowledge
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-streaming frameworks such as Flink, Kafka Streams, or Spark
• Practical Kubernetes experience, including troubleshooting production issues
• Experience tuning JVM performance, including garbage collection, CPU hotspots, and heap dump analysis

Responsibilities:

• Design and build distributed services from the ground up using core Java rather than relying solely on heavy frameworks
• Develop event-driven systems using Kafka and event-streaming frameworks at scale
• Orchestrate deployments on Kubernetes, defining services, deployments, and stateful sets
• Tackle complex problems around data consistency and availability and help shape how the platform evolves
• Mentor other engineers while continuing to learn from senior peers across a global team

You will help build the distributed services at the core of our product, ingesting and transforming data at scale to power analytics and monitoring tools used by customers around the world.
