Software Test Engineer

Salary: £? - ? per year

Requirements:

• Strong software testing experience on embedded software or a physical device, such as mobile devices, smart meters, or handheld/touchscreen products
• Python test automation experience, manual testing experience, or ideally both
• Background in a safety-critical or regulated sector such as medical, automotive, aerospace, defence, finance, or oil and gas
• Understanding of working within a QMS with good record-keeping
• Willingness to be onsite in Motherwell 3 days per week, with flexibility on how those days are arranged
• Desirable: medical device testing experience
• Desirable: some cybersecurity testing exposure
• Desirable: familiarity with test management tools such as Jama, Codebeamer, TestLink, HP ALM, or DOORS

Responsibilities:

• Carry out hands-on software testing across both Python test automation and manual testing
• Write automated tests in Python
• Perform manual testing when automation is not possible, including GUI testing directly on the device
• Work within a regulated medical environment
• Maintain good test records and operate within a QMS
• Adapt testing activities around strengths in either automation or manual testing where appropriate

We are recruiting a Software Test Engineer for a client developing a market-leading medical device at their site in Motherwell. This is a 6-month initial contract, likely to be extended, with up to £68 per hour inside IR35. The role is onsite three days per week, with flexibility on how those days are arranged, such as week on/week off. We can arrange a one-stage interview quickly for suitable candidates.
