Technical Consultant Android

Salary: £90,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience developing Android applications using Java.
• Good knowledge of Java, with experience in Python and Bash.
• Experience delivering software through the full development lifecycle.
• Solid understanding of secure software engineering principles and authentication technologies.
• Experience designing technical solutions from documented requirements.
• Strong communication skills with confidence engaging directly with customers and stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for solving difficult technical challenges.
• Must be eligible to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance and hold British nationality.
• Desirable: Android Open Source Project (AOSP) development.
• Desirable: iOS development using Swift.
• Desirable: Linux development.
• Desirable: Kubernetes or experience deploying to air-gapped environments.
• Desirable: Development of non-HTTP network protocols or low-level networking.
• Desirable: Privacy-focused or innovative computer science research.
• Desirable: Experience building distributed or large-scale data processing systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and deploy secure Android applications using Java.
• Work closely with customers to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Support the full software development lifecycle, from design through testing, deployment and ongoing support.
• Produce technical documentation and present solutions during design reviews.
• Review high- and low-level designs produced by partners and subcontractors.
• Represent the business in technical stakeholder meetings and customer engagements.
• Build secure systems that protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive information.
• Solve complex technical problems in highly secure environments where innovation is encouraged.

The role is primarily based in West Yorkshire, onsite in Ripponden, with occasional travel and overnight stays at customer locations across the UK.
